Thanks to the ThermoChron I know 4:30pm yesterday my apartment hit a high of 102.2°F as the sun came around to the west and roasted everything. After that peak it stays solid at 90.5°F well into the morning. The LCDs on my RAID’s hot-swap sleds show the drives are operating over 150°F. My HVAC is still screwed and the Riverloft is telling me I’ll have to live with it until May.
I don’t understand what their deal is. It’s basic systems administration:
Any IT department would know: rollback to the point before the system malfunctioned (ie. replace the removed valve), and try to diagnose the cause and effect. You don’t keep running the broken system.
I’ve notified them that I’m withholding the rent, contacting my lawyer, moving into a hotel (submitting the bills to them). This whole fiasco has made me rethink our apartment/condo hunt in the city for a home of our own in the (gasp!) suburbs. I’m getting sick of “shared living” environments. If something gets fucked up, I’d feel more in control being the problem and the solution.
Open a window.
If it was only that easy. The huge windows that act like a magnifying glass- and we're the little ants.
There's a hi/low pressure problem. The sun heats the place and then the hot air can't get out. Trust me. We have the windows open.
Then move back to Manhattan.
Hi - I sent you an email about this problem. I'd be interested in knowing how it was resolved, as I'm considering moving into the Riverloft apartments. I sent the email to your info@ address.
Hey I live in Philadelphia, you might want to consider renting a condo from someone (if you can break the lease and you're like us and not going to stay in Philadelphia for a long time).
Check out the Watermill in Manaynk, the units haven't sold so the Condo is losing money and management is more than happy to rent to people who don't want to buy. Bridge Five is also in the same boat. I wouldn't buy in either of these places but the parking is free, the high speed internet connection is free and the heat and air-conditioning is individual to each unit. Also if you have a pet they both take cats and dogs.
I was seriously thinking of moving in. Has this situation ben resoved yet?
I have an apartment on the West side of Riverloft and my apartment is fine. In fact, the AC works to well some times... I'm left shivering on my couch looking for a blanket. I moved in in March of this year and have not experienced any problems... besides one of the elevators being down for a month. But that problem has now been resolved.
please note the date of this post: February 08, 2005.
This issue-- along with the month long no hot water problem/boiler replacement ('04) have been resolved by the riverloft.
We have both elevators working. Everything is just fine at the Riverloft.
Nothing to see here, please move along...
