On the tail end of a great long weekend hanging out with old friends, Dave pointed out to me that Live 8 (the followup to Live Aid) is going to be happening in Philly on July 2nd. This time not only will it be free, it’s going to be 4 blocks from my apartment. I’m wondering if we should try to entice some of the New Yorkers to come down for the trifecta Dominion Day, Live 8, Forth of July bonanza. The headliners so far are:

- Dave Matthews Band
- Bon Jovi
- Maroon 5
- Il Divo
- Stevie Wonder
- Puff Daddy
- Jay-Z
- Sarah McLachlan
- Rob Thomas
- Keith Urban
- 50 Cent
- Kaiser Chiefs
A disappointing line-up compared to the diversity of the original Live-Aid I attended at JFK Stadium— but free none the less. I’d miss the Fourth celebrations on the roof of 2f… but top Live 8 off with a July 4th celebration in the home of the Declaration of Independence, and it should be good weekend for a road trip. Any takers?
We're supposed to be in Spain then. And I think the only act on that list that I would go out of my way to see is Stevie, despite fears that he would disappoint. But as you know, I would however, go anywhere to spend a weekend with my friends and beer.
